Professional Biography

Anna Quinlan self-published her first picture book at age seven. She has been writing stories ever since. After University she worked for fifteen years as a teacher-librarian immersed in beautiful books and inspired by the way children respond to stories with heart. In 2004 she completed a Diploma of Professional Writing (Children’s Writing) through the Australian College of Journalism. Then she began to write her own stories with heart. Her first short story was accepted for publishing in 2005. Since then, she has had numerous short stories and articles published in magazines. She has also received several awards.

She lives in gorgeous East Gippsland with her husband and son, who are fellow bookaholics, and her writing companion Rosie the dog, who enjoys a bedtime story. When she’s not writing, she loves reading, playing the drums, learning French, walking by the river, and eating food from her own garden.
